Trauma Focused Therapy
What is therapy?

Talking therapies involve talking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. There are many different types of talking therapy, but they all aim to:
-
give you a safe place to talk to someone who won't judge you
-
help you make sense of things and understand yourself better
-
help you resolve complicated feelings, or find ways to live with them
-
help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or act, and find ways to change them (if you want to).

What to expect on your first session

The initial visit is for you and your therapist to get to know each other and get an idea of how to proceed. Future visits will be therapeutic- for example in your second session you may explore a specific problem.

Trauma focused Therapy

Trauma focused therapy offers you skills that help you understand and cope with emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences. This approach focuses on recognising and understanding how the traumatic experience affects a person's mental, behavioural, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The end goal is for you to create a healthier and more manageable meaning of the experience that too place.

Below are some videos that introduce examples of therapies that can be used to help healing from trauma.
