What I offer

This page details the services I offer. Click on each image to find out more about each of the services.

Assessment and Formulation

Assessment offers the opportunity to reflect in detail about the development and consequences of your difficulties. The psychological formulation offers a deeper understanding of your difficulties and how you may consider coping with them. I believe that this process is worth taking time over as the more that we understand about your difficulties from the beginning, the more likely we are of creating a treatment plan that addresses all of your needs. I can offer a written report of an assessment if needed.

As a treating psychologist specialising in trauma I can offer an assessment and report that can be used as supporting evidence of a client's presenting difficulties in civil legal proceedings. If you are a client or solicitor please get in touch for more details.

Individual Therapy

I focus on developing a comfortable environment and a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to talk . I offer a broad spectrum of therapy interventions that are effective in helping process trauma, improve your relationships and achieve your goals.   Both short-term and longer-term therapy interventions are possible and will depend on your individual needs. I often use an integrative approach drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities including; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing  (EMDR) Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Mindfulness.  I can offer therapy either online or in person in the North East of England area.

Group Interventions

I offer psychoeducational and skills based group interventions. This is different to group therapy as you wouldn't be expected to talk about your individual trauma experiences with others in the group.  This intervention would include psychoeducation around trauma and techniques to help manage difficulties related to trauma.

In addition, I offer self-compassion taster sessions and 6-8 week group sessions within the local community throughout the year, which will be advertised on the website and social media pages. If you think you may be interested in this approach then please get in contact and let me know.

Teaching

I have experience of teaching trainee clinical psychologists about trauma, including military related trauma. I believe individuals get the most out of teaching when sessions are interactive, engaging and thought provoking. I work alongside an expert by experience who is a military veteran with a PTSD diagnosis. Together we offer a dynamic and practical teaching session about military culture,  mental health and military related trauma. We offer this teaching to trainee clinical psychologists and other allied health professionals including GP's in training.  We are available to offer this teaching to colleges, universities, GP practices, NHS and charity services.

Please contact me to discuss your specific requirements and for a tailored quote.

Workshops

I offer workshops within the community, at local events and within organisations that can be tailored to your needs. Some examples of workshops I could offer are:  Mental Health and Wellbeing in the workplace, Understanding PTSD, Developing Self-Compassion.

Supervision

I can offer individual clinical supervision remotely or face to face for applied psychologists, psychotherapists, or other health professionals. I believe that supervision should be restorative, therefore I aim to make supervision a safe, comfortable and supportive space.

I can also facilitate reflective practice groups for teams, with a particular emphasis on supporting staff wellbeing.

The therapy space offers a warm, welcoming and calm environment where healing, growth and self-exploration can take place. The soothing sage green colour promotes relaxation and creates a calming backdrop for sessions. It is furnished with comfortable furniture and cozy textures to contribute to a warm atmosphere. It is a quiet room, away from distractions, to ensure you can focus and open up without any worries of being overheard. It has plenty of natural light, which contributes to a positive mood and enhances the overall ambience.  I have brought some nature indoors with the design and have included some plants, which are known to have a positive impact on mental health. Clients usually feel at ease as soon as they enter and can even have a brew to really feel at home!
